Probable Cause

THE DTSB

The DTSB determines toe Probable Cause of this accident to be pilot error, in that the pilot of the accident aircraft did intentionally fly a low level flight while following a river and struck high tension power lines. The purpose of the flight had been for scenic purposes. The powerlines were not new, and were well marked. Both occupants were killed instantly when the aircraft impacted the frozen river in a vertical profile after striking the wires.
