Probable Cause

THE DTSB

The DTSB determines the Probable Cause of this accident to be Pilot Error, in that the pilot encountered an engine abnormal in cruise flight and turned left towards Buffalo, NY. The pilot misjudged the best choice for the required off field landing and struck ground objects during the forced landing. There was numerous ample open fields within the glide range of the aircraft that could have been selected.
